Ways To Succeed In University

The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us that it is necessary to get used to the new normal life with the discovery of vaccines. As you know, we were used to staying at home during the pandemic, we had more comfortable and flexible working hours. This may have caused some of us to be lazy and lose the discipline required by university life. That’s why today I’m going to give you tips on how to be successful at university in the new normal life.

Get Ready for Face-to-Face Education

Although online education has offered us many comforts, nothing gives the pleasure of face-to-face education. Online education cannot show the fascination of campuses, the excitement of face-to-face discussions with professors, lecture conversations and complaints with friends during breaks, even if it wants to. Therefore, those who are accustomed to the convenience of online education, those who do not attend the classes and watch the course recordings later, now is the time for face-to-face education. That means it’s time to abandon of our old habits. My first suggestion to you is to go first week of university and take your syllabus. For those who will just start university, the first week is the best time for you to get to know people from different departments and get to know your faculty and university. For those of you who are not new to the university, it is a time when you can see your university after a long time, and you can spend time with your friends and professors.

Stationery Shopping

Perhaps the most fun of the suggestions I will list here is stationery shopping. Those who think that this stationery shopping left in primary school, you are quite wrong. Stationery is not just a place where students meet their needs, they are also a place where students find motivation. Colorful highlighters, notebooks with different covers, agendas, post-its, pens, pencil cases are things that make not only small children happy, but also adult people. We all know the urge to study on the way home from the stationery store. Who knows, it wouldn’t be bad to go to a stationery store before the midterm and finals.

Keeping an Agenda

One of the most important parts is having an agenda and keeping it organized. It is important to use an agenda to create a plan and program for ourselves by looking at our syllabus and the content of our courses. Keeping an agenda not only disciplines you, but also motivates you for unfinished work when you see that you are crossing out the work you have completed with highlighters. In addition, you can spend the rest of your free time having fun with peace of mind, since you know what to do on which days.

Not Working Hard, Studying Regularly

You are now a university student. You should not spend all your time just studying, but also taking time for yourself. Just reading the articles given by the professors and doing your homework will reduce the efficiency you will get from the university. Therefore, if you study regularly and do your reading daily, you can fill the remaining time with activities that will improve you even more. Remember, university not only prepares you for career life, but it also gains you a new perspective on life.

Using Online Education’s Gains in Face-to-Face Education

Of course, the transition to face-to-face education does not mean that our laptops and tablets will disappear. Most of us make a habit of preparing homework and taking notes on the computer, reading articles on the iPad. We even managed to listen to our lessons through our headphones during the pandemic periods when we went out for limited times. It is also possible to benefit from all these in face-to-face education. If you cannot work at home or if you are bored of working in the same place, you can take your MacBook, iPad, AirPods and thermos and go to the university library and work there too.

Part-Time Job or Internship

If the money you receive from your family is not enough for your needs and/or if you want to earn your own money, you can get a part-time job. You can look at the internship opportunities related to the department you are studying and fill your CVs with the internships you have done.

Midterm- Final Times

Exam times are a time to shelve your social activities a little bit. If you’ve noticed, I didn’t say completely, because studying regularly does not prevent you from social life even during exam week. In addition, studying regularly will reduce your stress level, even if it does not eliminate. Since you have taken care of other lessons, you have more time to deal with the lessons you have difficulty with.

Finding Things to Motivate Yourself

What motivates everyone is unique to themselves. Some take a celebrity as an example and a poster drives them to work, while others get excited by drawing their book with highlighters. Find something to motivate yourself because everyone talks to you about the need to study, but in the end, it is you who will study and maintain your discipline.
